description: "Unpack the Slint SC archive, vendor the runtime into your Cargo project, and put the Slint SC tools on your PATH."
---
Slint SC comes as one archive, a tarball or a zip file.
It contains:

| Part | What it is |
|---|---|
| `slint-sc` | The source code of the runtime crate your application links. |
| `slint-compiler` | Binaries that compile `.slint` files into Rust code, one for each supported host platform. |
| `slint-sc-coverage` | Binaries that report the coverage of your `.slint` code, one for each supported host platform. |
| Safety Manual | This manual, as HTML. |

Every part of the archive comes from the same release.
The generated code only compiles with the runtime of the version that generated it ([`sls.gen.version`](/reference/generated-code/#sls.gen.version)).

## Add the Runtime

Copy the `slint-sc` source directory from the archive into your repository, for example to `vendor/slint-sc`.
Then add it to the dependencies in your application's `Cargo.toml`:

```toml
[dependencies]
slint-sc = { path = "vendor/slint-sc" }
```

## Install the Tools

Put the `slint-compiler` and `slint-sc-coverage` binaries for your host platform in a directory on your `PATH`.
Check that they run, and that they print the version of the archive:

```sh
slint-compiler --version
slint-sc-coverage --version
```

State the environment requirements of both tools, including the supported host platforms.
